weddings...

The topic of marriage and weddings has been popping up recently. And strangely enough it's my wedding people seem to be planning for.  Completely berserk, since I'm wildly single, not dating, haven't dating in eons, and not likely to seeing the specimen of men on this island.

And anyway, case 1:

At dinner with rascals, B2 asked,"Yee, when you get married, then Rayshan and I can be your flower girls."

I almost choked on my Macdonald's fries.

"Err okay, but it might be a long wait," I replied.

"Do you have a boyfriend?" B2 continued, ever hopeful that her probing questions might end her a spot as flower girl in my dream (literally, dream) wedding.

"Nope," I said. Wondering how do I get interrogated by a 5 year-old with questions like that.

"Why don't you introduce some nice young men to Yee?" said B2's dad.

Thoughts of me walking down the aisle with a 5-year-old ran through my head. Eeeew. that is wrong.

Case 2:

While being bridal gown consultant to my girlfriend who is actually getting married, she saw this cheongsam laced top gown with an A-line bottom.

"Trish, you should wear this at your wedding, it would suit you!" squealed O with excitement.

"Hmm sure, but let's focus here on YOUR wedding gown, seeing that you're the one getting married soon?"

...10 minutes later, while discussing flowers.

"What about pastel colours?" asked my friend on her suggested choice of bridal bouquet.

"No, that wouldn't suit you, a stronger colour would be better," replied the bridal gown designer.

"Yeah, pastel would suit Tricia better," said O, turning to look at me.

"FOCUS people, FOCUS!" I exclaimed, with eyes rolling.

I mean of course we all dream of weddings, I used to spend hours thinking about how my gown would be and all details that are now to me a blur. But now I realised that I like weddings for a different reason -- I can put together one. I love planning and organising bridal events, even with my limited experience, it does give me great joy to do stuff like that.

The suggestions on gowns, hair and makeup, bridal bouquets, venues, shoes, cakes, wedding gifts, table settings, flowers and colours... oooo excitement. Of course please don't be misled by my excitement. I don't quite believe in the sanctity of marriage, I am just excited by the thought of what money can buy you for that one day where dreams come true.

And because I'll never have one. Let me indulge on all the flowery, pretty stuff I like at weddings.
