there are no thunderstorms

Before I left Singapore, I made a list of the things that I will miss when I am in the UK.

It's time to revisit that list.

B1 & B2
Gawd, I really miss the rascals. I miss sitting next to B1 when he watches TV then slowly sinking my body next to his, sniffing his smelly head. I miss him constantly asking me to bring him downstairs to buy stuff. (I MISS HAVING A DOWNSTAIRS TO BUY STUFF!) I miss giving him lots of big hugs and kisses. I miss talking to him, and being amused by the stuff a 4 year old would say.

I miss B2 for her cuteness. Her LOUD ways, her cute 2 year old size that's just nice to sit on your lap and hug. Nice to nibble arms and chubby cheeks. Her constant - NO!

I'll go," is it forrrrrr...Mommy? (NO!) Daddy? (NO!) Yee Yee? (NO!)Mama? (NO!)..." Of course I can go down a long list of relatives, and her answer will be - NO!

But her vocabulary and language skills must have improved by heaps since I left. Of course I wouldn't know, course the little girl, everytime I call home, my sis will go,"Wanna talk to Yee Yee?" "No!" would be her reply.

Logging on to MSN and seeing my friends
Surprisingly, I see them online almost as often as when I was back in Singapore, so this hasn't been a big deal. But I miss having close friends whom I can say,"Let's go coffee/movie/dinner/bake-session in 20 minutes!"

Family
Definitely family, re: B1 & B2 (again!). :) Also the generally yabbering about rascals to my sis, mom & dad. Miss my cousins hanging out at my place, even though we don't do ANYTHING, but just laze in one spot for hourrrrrrs.

Cosy feeling when it rains real heavy & I'm home or in my car
It doesn't storm here, thunderstorms are like a big deal in this country and even then they have poxy little light rain, pale in comparision to our serious downpour back home. The first night I arrived in Bath, there was a thunderstorm, and S asked me if I heard it. I thought to myself, "What's the big deal? Don't you have thunder when it storms?"

Well, apparently not. And I miss it.

I miss the really heavy peltering of rain on buildings, the loud roar of thunder - a combination of which is so loud that you can bearly hear yourself speak. The massive bolts of lightning that sometimes strike inches from you (that's what I think anyway). It makes you feel really cosy and snug when you're in a car, or at home tucked up in bed.

I do miss home. It's not the food. That's the least of it. Many people think that I will miss the food back home. Or maybe I speak too soon. But it's the having friends and family around you, someone to hang out with, rascals to hug and chauffeur around.
